Dr. Christian Pizzaro
Christian Pizzaro, MD. is Chief, Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the Nemours Cardiac Center, located at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children
Dr. Pizzaro was bord in Chille and attended the University of Chile School of Medicine in Santiago, Chile. He served a residency in General Surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital – Philadelphia and
subsequently completed cardiothoracic residency training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
He completed fellowships in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street in London. Dr. Pizarro is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
His clinical interest include neonatal cardiac surgery; heart transplantion; tracheal reconstruction surgery and the surgical management of single ventricle patients. Dr. Pizzaro has participated in a number of educational activities in Latin
America, includng protoring as well as joining as the lead surgeon the first two pediatric cardiac surgical missions with the LA based foundation Corazones con Esperanza to initiate a congenital heart program in Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru.
