Dr. Luc Tambeur

Dr. Luc Tambeur received his medical training at the Catholic University of Leuven (MD 1989) and continued his training in general surgery and cardiac surgery there, receiving the respective board certifications in 1995 and 1996.

After his training, Dr. Tambeur became a staff member at the ‘DeutschesHerzzentrum Berlin’. During a sabbatical he pursued a years’ fellowship at Toronto General Hospital, with Dr. Tirone David and associates.

During these years he gained the European board certification in cardiovascular surgery (FETCS) and German cardiothoracic board certification (‘FacharztHerzchirurgie’).

In 2005 Dr. Tambeur came to Mafraq Hospital, where he led the transformation into a successful, integrated  Cardiovascular Services Department. He also continued the development of his management knowledge, culminating in an MBA degree (UK, Henley) in 2008.

In 2012, Dr. Tambeur was requested to lead the pilot project in the SEHA Service Line Integration initiative, the Cardiac Surgery integration. Consequently, the SKMC and Mafraq Cardiac Surgery Services were consolidated at SKMC on December 15th 2012, with Dr. Tambeur as Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery, where he has remained since.
